Meet Your Midwife
Being a midwife is an enormous privilege, and the most rewarding aspect of my job is seeing mum and baby get off to the best possible start!
I am passionate about the importance of supporting women in the early days of motherhood – being a mother has never been more demanding - and strongly believe in the important part this plays in a newborn baby’s physical and emotional development.
I qualified as a midwife from King’s College London in 1999 and have been fortunate to have had a very diverse range of experience in working as a midwife since then. I have given midwifery care to women during their pregnancy, birth and in the postnatal period in home, community, hospital and birth centre settings. Until recently I was working in a One-to-One team alongside a Sure Start programme, and I continue to have a part-time job in the NHS, which allows me to keep updated in all areas of midwifery practice.
In addition to my midwifery training, I also have extra qualifications in parent education (Birth International / PROSPECT), breastfeeding (UNICEF Breastfeeding Management) and Examination of the Newborn – traditionally undertaken by paediatricians (Middlesex University).
The joy of working as an independent midwife is knowing that I can provide an excellent service that is woman-centred without the constraints of the NHS.
I look forward to meeting you!
